To Life is a groundbreaking documentary from Student Academy Award nominated Creator/Director Ari Beser (The Nuclear Family), Emmy Award-winning Producer/Editor Bonnie Cutler (The Pigeon Murders, Twice Born), Emmy Award-winning Production Director Debbie London-Harrington, Peabody Award-winning Executive Producer Caroline Christopher and Associate Producer/Field Producer Hannah Roodman. The next generation of Jews are challenging racial and gender inequity within the Jewish world and beyond. To Life follows young Jews as they challenge racism, sexism and homophobia by showing up as their most authentic selves.

Our stories offer a window into parts of the Jewish community that have rarely been filmed. To Life will look at one woman's journey to become France's first orthodox female rabbi; the transition of a gender nonconforming individual and the process of affirming their identity as an adult B-Mitzvah, a gender-neutral approach to the traditional Jewish coming of age ceremony; and efforts to combat racism in the Jewish community. Intimate portraits are interwoven with Jewish commentary from an exciting and evolving list of rabbis and thought leaders who give a broader commentary to the personal stories we are telling. 

We believe this is an urgent topic that must be exposed to the world and shared with our loved ones. As hate rises we all choose to navigate our lives in an openly Jewish way. This story aims to help illuminate what that means. This documentary is a vital portrait of Jews of all backgrounds.

Why Crowdfund Now?

Donations for the arts are down and grants are being postponed or eliminated. The recent social events in our world and our community made us realize that now more than ever is the time to tell this story. 

These are harsh and trying times. It's proving extremely difficult to film anything due to COVID-19 because of the regulations now required to film. This pandemic comes with a price tag that productions have to follow for testing for cast and crew along with other safety precaution protocols.

Risks & Challenges

We have challenges in producing this series during the COVID Pandemic and the costs to complete this project has been impacted because of the travel restrictions and the international filming that we are doing. In addition, we are facing challenges because the arts are taking a back seat to the pandemic.

 The challenge of producing this film is that we must have the support of the community to ensure that this film, and message, gets to reach the actualization of creating the Jewish narrative to the global society. We must achieve this together as ONE, and your support is the reason we will continue to see this success come to be.
